D2I Campus Support

Data to Insights builds on decades of data and systems work at UT Austin to accelerate a path forward in support of the university’s strategic planning. It brings together expertise while relying on broad partnerships across campus to achieve a new level of data integration to support data-informed, insightful decision making at all levels.

D2I works with many system and process leaders, technical staff, data stewards, data consumers, and decision makers across campus. Processes include formal collaborative work, partnering for specific projects, and working with UT governance groups along with communities of interest.

D2I is a major investment to not only accelerate and modernize the university’s data strategy, but also to enhance the institution’s trusted information infrastructure across many systems and data sources.

The UT Data Hub

The Data Hub is UT Austin's advanced cloud-based data platform, built to meet increasing data and analytics needs. It centralizes academic and institutional data and connects to powerful analytics tools for modern data analysis.

Data Solutions and Support

Empowering the university community to make data-informed decisions by cultivating analytical capabilities, driving BI adoption, and building a thriving ecosystem of data practitioners across campus.

Legacy Data Services

Legacy Data Services provides critical data capabilities for the campus and many colleges, schools, and units. The Cognos Service will continue to operate but has transitioned from active development to sustainment mode as D2I reengineers data flows via the UT Data Hub.

Tools

Insights Service

An online tool that provides one location for faculty and staff to search for and discover shared and trusted campus information. This tool is managed by the Data to Insights (D2I) team who use it to aggregate resources from colleges, schools, and units, as well as D2I-created reports and analytics.

Alation

The campus metadata management tool that includes a catalog of data sources and documentation such as glossaries, articles, and policies that support the informed use of data. Users can cross-reference definitions, flag quality issues, and crowdsource knowledge about campus data assets.

Tableau

D2I manages the campus Tableau Enterprise account including the servers and licenses that enable desktop producers to create and publish visualizations for viewing and interacting with data.
