Accessible assessments aren’t about lowering standards—they’re about giving students equitable ways to demonstrate learning. In this session, we’ll explore how to design clear, flexible assessments in Canvas while maintaining academic rigor and alignment with course outcomes.
You’ll learn practical strategies for improving quizzes, discussions, assignments, and submission options using Canvas tools and UDL-informed practices. We’ll focus on reducing unnecessary barriers, clarifying expectations, and creating assessments that better support learner variability.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Design assessments that balance rigor, flexibility, and accessibility
- Improve clarity in assignment instructions and rubrics
- Use Canvas tools to support accessible quizzes, discussions, and submission formats
