Summary

Create more inclusive multimedia experiences by learning practical strategies for making video and audio content accessible in Canvas. In this session, participants will explore captioning workflows using Panopto and YouTube, develop effective transcripts, and identify when audio descriptions are needed to support learners. We’ll also examine common accessibility challenges in multimedia, review quality and synchronization best practices, and discuss how Anthology Ally supports accessible media workflows within Canvas. 

By the end of this session, participants will be able to: 

  • Create and manage captions for video content using Panopto, YouTube, and related captioning tools.
  • Evaluate multimedia content for accessibility needs, including transcripts, caption quality, and audio descriptions.
  • Apply practical strategies for improving the accessibility and usability of video and audio content within Canvas courses.

Earn a Digital Badge. by attending a minimum of 5 sessions (Days 1-2), participating in the in-person Open Lab session (Day 3), and completing an Accessibility Checklist Download Accessibility Checklist.

Location

*Day 3 will be hybrid, with online and in-person (RRH 2.238) options to choose from. Lunch will be provided for participants registered for the in-person Course Accessibility Checklist session (11am - 1pm).
