Official Student Email Rollout

Starting May 1, 2025, the official student email initiative will kick off part one of the rollout. This change aims to enhance communication, security, and access to University resources for all incoming and current students.

Each student will receive an official UT Austin email address in the Microsoft 365 system with the suffix “@my.utexas.edu.”

For example, a new student email might look like: "abc1234@my.utexas.edu."

This change will allow UT to provide official communication from the University, streamline communication with faculty and peers, and grant access to powerful M365 tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and Teams, along with advanced security features.

The official email address will be listed in each student’s record as their primary email.

The rollout will occur in phases and will not impact the entire student body at once. Visit our initiatives page to see the rollout dates.
